HOMEMADE SAUSAGE PATTIES

Premade breakfast patties have been such a game changer for rushed mornings. Initially what sparked my need for a quick, healthy, and protein-packed breakfast was my trip to Coachella! Making a breakfast sandwich every morning after an all-day festival would be a struggle. So whether you make these patties a full-blown sandwich or just with some quick over easy eggs, they will satisfy your hunger and need for protein!

INGREDIENTS

PATTIES: (makes 16 patties)

1 lb. Ground Pork

1 lb. Ground Turkey

2 tsp. Dried Thyme

2 tsp. Dried Sage

1 tbs. Garlic Powder

1 tbs. Fennel Seeds

1 ½ tsp. Red Pepper Flakes

¼ tsp. Smoked Paprika

½ tsp. Ground Cinnamon

1 ½ tsp. Salt

½ tsp. Black Pepper

⅓ cup Maple Syrup

2 tbs. Olive Oil

INSTRUCTIONS

PATTIES:

  1. Place all of the ingredients for the patties in a large bowl (except for the olive oil).

  2. Use your hands to mix all of the ingredients together until well combined.

  3. Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium/high heat and add olive oil.

  4. Wet your hands and create the sausage patties. Use a ¼ cup scoop to scoop the mixture in a heaping scoop and make the meat into a ball.

  5. Carefully create a patty with the meat as thin as possible. It will puff up and shrink in size.

  6. When the olive oil is fragrant, add 2-3 patties to the skillet and cook the patties for 2-3 minutes on each side and until golden brown and cooked through.

  7. Repeat steps until all the patties are cooked.

  8. Enjoy or freeze for later.

FREEZING:

  1. Let the patties cool completely before freezing them.

  2. Stack each individually on parchment paper.

  3. Store all in large Ziploc bags or an air-tight container.

  4. Place in the freezer and freeze for up to 3 months.

REHEATING:

  1. In a small skillet: reheat for a few minutes, flipping occasionally to be thoroughly heated.

  2. In a microwave: cover the patty with another plate and place a cup of water in the microwave. Reheat for a 1-2 minutes, depending on your microwave.
