ONE HOUR BROWN BUTTER SAGE DINNER ROLLS

I was in a pinch before a small dinner party and needed a quick dinner roll. Bread and quick are not usually two words that go together. Between creating gluten and rise time, it usually takes hours or days to make the perfect bread. Let me tell you... these are the BEST buttery dinner rolls and the best part is that they take less than an hour! For the original recipe without the browned butter sage check it out here.

INGREDIENTS

1½ cups Water, warm

1 tbs. Active Dry Yeast

2 tbs. Granulated Sugar

2 tbs. Unsalted Butter, softened

1 tsp. Salt

4 cups All-Purpose Flour

2 tsp. Sage leaves, fresh and chopped + an extra pinch for topping

1 tsp. Thyme leaves, fresh

Topping:

3 tbs. Unsalted Butter, melted

Sea Salt

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. In a stand mixer, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm water and let stand for five minutes, or until foamy.

  2. Add the browned butter, salt, and 3 cups of flour, and mix until combined. Add additional flour, 1/4 cup at a time, until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl and is only slightly sticky to the touch (be careful not to add too much flour!).

  3. Add the chopped sage and thyme. Knead 3-5 minutes, until smooth. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise 20 minutes.

  4. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and line a 9 x 13 pan with parchment paper or spray with cooking spray.

  5. Gently punch the dough down and divide into 10 equal sized pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and space evenly in the prepared pan.

  6. Let rise (uncovered) for an additional 15-20 minutes.

  7. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with sea salt.

  8. Bake 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove and brush with butter. Keep in the pan if you want to serve them warm!
